Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved financial sanctions totalling Rs 2.56 billion (Rs 2.56 bn) for development initiatives across Uttarakhand, with a specific focus on infrastructure linked to the Kumbh Mela 2027. The state release indicated that the package covers road upgrades, ghats redevelopment, water supply and flood protection measures. The approvals were made by the chief minister as part of preparations for the mass pilgrimage and wider development priorities.

Under the Kumbh Mela projects, the government sanctioned funds for several targeted works, including Rs 27.2 million (Rs 27.2 million) for renovation of the four-lane road from National Highway 58 to the industrial area, Rs 21.3 million for improvement works from kilometre zero to five of the Pathulok Barrage Road, and Rs 13.6 million for renovation of the Bahadrabad-Rohalki Tiraaha to Alipur-Sukrasa-Pathri Ambuwala road. These works form part of local connectivity upgrades.

The chief minister had earlier approved projects worth Rs 12.52 billion for Kumbh preparations and other development initiatives. Under the Planning Department special assistance scheme, Rs 1.15 billion was cleared for redevelopment of Triveni Ghat within the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor Project while Rs 690.6 million was approved for North Har Ki Pauri under the Haridwar Ganga Corridor Project. Additional allocations include Rs 60 million for the replacement of a pumping water supply scheme, Rs 60 million for the repair and improvement of roads in Har Ki Pauri, Kankhal and Gaurishankar areas and Rs 9.9 million for line shifting by the electricity department.

The state government has intensified work in Haridwar, and the chief minister directed officials to complete all permanent infrastructure projects by October 2026. The release stated that measures aim to strengthen infrastructure, improve disaster management systems and enhance arrangements for drinking water supply and flood protection ahead of the Kumbh Mela 2027. Emphasis was placed on expanding facilities for pilgrims and on modern surveillance and control systems to bolster security.
