India to Have Second Largest Metro System by 2026

India is set to become home to the world's second largest metro system by 2026, according to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Speaking at the third edition of the India Metro Rail Conference, Puri highlighted the nation's rapid metro rail expansion, with a current network of 860 km across 20 cities expected to grow to 1,000 km by 2024 and further to 1,700 km by 2026.
