Railways achieves 4.1% growth in freight loading

During the initial nine months of the current fiscal year, the Indian Railways achieved a freight loading of 1154.67 million tonnes (MT), marking a 4.1% increase compared to the 1109.38 MT loaded in the corresponding months of the previous financial year, as per official data.

Additionally, the earnings from freight in the same period amounted to Rs 1.25 trillion, reflecting a 3.84% rise from the Rs 1.20 trillion generated during the comparable months of fiscal 2022-23.

In December 2023 alone, Indian Railways reported a freight loading of 138.99 MT, contributing to revenue of Rs 150.97 billion. This represents growth compared to December 2022, where the loading was 130.66 MT, and earnings stood at Rs 145.74 billion.
