Tripura will introduce India’s first state?level artificial intelligence (AI) policy to promote technology use across sectors and to provide AI?driven smart solutions in Agartala for urban management and public services. The policy will be developed with support from the Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog and will prioritise applications such as traffic control and municipal services. The state expects the measures to improve efficiency and service delivery in the capital.

The chief minister, Manik Saha, launched the Tripura State Innovation Mission at the International Exhibition Centre in Hapania in the presence of the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh. The state plans to set up a Tripura AI Centre of Excellence with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Plans also include a Tripura IT and Data Economic Zone and an IT park with co?working spaces to boost the IT and data centre ecosystem.
