Delhi-Gurgaon NH closed for 90 days for Dwarka Expressway construction

To accommodate building works connected to Dwarka Expressway, the carriageways of NH-48 between Rangpuri and Rajokri will be stopped for 90 days, which will affect commuters commuting to and from Delhi to Gurugram. The NH-48 Delhi-Jaipur Highway's carriageways between Rangpuri and Rajokri would be closed for three months, according to the Delhi Traffic Police.

The Dwarka Expressway is being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as part of the Bharat Mala Project, and it will begin at the Dwarka Link Road, close to Shiv Murti on NH-48 (Delhi-Jaipur Highway). On NH-48, two underpasses and one elevated stretch will be built. The Delhi Traffic Police issued a warning stating that both lanes of NH-48 between Rangpuri and Rajokri would be restricted in order to complete this operation.

Near the Shiv Murti crossroads, traffic will be detoured off the main highway and into freshly built slip lanes. The Mehrauli-Gurgaon route can be used by traffic travelling to or from Gurgaon and Jaipur. The police advised commuters heading to Dwarka, Kapashera, and Najafgarh that they might take the Palam Road from the Gurgaon Road overpass. Traffic officials recommended commuters heading to the airport, ISBT, and railroad terminals to make appropriate plans because the closure of the carriageways is expected to affect traffic circulation.

The Northern Peripheral Road, often known as the Dwarka Expressway, is currently under construction and runs from Shiv-Murti on NH-8 (the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway) to Kherki Daula Toll Plaza before passing through Dwarka Sector 21, the Gurugram border, and Basai. The corridor should reduce traffic on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and other major thoroughfares. The motorway will be opened in phases, according to the NHAI. The 29-kilometer Expressway's 19- kilometer segment through Gurugram is anticipated to open soon. Only by the end of this year or the beginning of 2024 will the final 10 kilometres of the Delhi section be completed.
