Delhi has cleared long-pending land allotments for a range of public infrastructure projects after a comprehensive review by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, officials said. The clearances follow directions to improve interdepartmental coordination and resolve cases that had remained pending for years. The move is intended to accelerate projects across transport, policing, health, education and urban services. Among major approvals, 20 hectares at Sanoth have been allotted for a Delhi Metro depot and 16 hectares at Narela for a Metro casting yard to facilitate future expansion. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has been granted land for sewage treatment plants and sewage pumping stations at eight locations, and officials approved 151 borewell clearances to strengthen the city's water supply. Additional land has been assigned for a sewage treatment plant at Jaunti and an underground water storage tank at Sangam Vihar. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received 24 sites for Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations to improve waste collection, and eight point five hectares at Holambi Kalan has been allotted for an E-Waste Eco Management Park. At Ghazipur, 10 acres have been handed to the MCD while a further 10.4 acres were cleared for expanding waste-to-energy and bio-methanisation facilities. The approvals also cover policing infrastructure, with four new police stations planned at Dilkusha Bagh, Sagarpur, Suyurpur and Kishangarh, and a new Forensic Science Laboratory mapped for Narela. Land has been earmarked for Intelligence Bureau (IB) stations at Dheerpur and Tahirpur and for judicial staff housing in Rohini and Shahdara. In the health sector, officials issued 112 No Objection Certificates for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and five NOCs for Atal Canteens, and community halls for Sub-Registrar offices received clearance. The education sector will gain sites for Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi Technological University (DTU) and the Central Sanskrit University (CSU) at the Education Hub in Narela, alongside land for a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and government schools. Officials said the package of clearances is expected to speed implementation of projects that had been stalled by land issues.
