Officials noted that a substantial proportion of metro users in the corridor are students and patients travelling to the N K P Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre and to the Lata Mangeshkar Hospital. Interactions with passengers indicated a latent demand for a dedicated feeder service that would deliver commuters to institute campuses rather than to distant stops.

The proposed service is expected to run frequent shuttles from Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station and to follow a route designed to improve accessibility for academic institutions and healthcare facilities. Planners said integration of the feeder buses with metro schedules will aim to reduce waiting times and to encourage multimodal journeys. The arrangement is intended to ease travel burdens on students who commute daily and on patients who require reliable transport for appointments.
