Nagpur Metro To Launch Feeder Bus Service For Hingna

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), in collaboration with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), will introduce a dedicated feeder bus service linking Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station to major institutions in the Hingna area. The initiative is intended to strengthen last?mile connectivity and to provide improved access for students and patients. Authorities described the route as connecting the metro station with Lata Mangeshkar Hospital and will include stops at G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Priyadarshini College of Engineering.

A registration camp to initiate Maha Card and NMC bus pass registration will be organised at college premises on the seventh and eighth April 2026, and officials urged eligible users to register. Officials noted that a substantial proportion of metro users in the corridor are students and patients travelling to the N K P Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre and to the Lata Mangeshkar Hospital. Interactions with passengers indicated a latent demand for a dedicated feeder service that would deliver commuters to institute campuses rather than to distant stops.

The proposed service is expected to run frequent shuttles from Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station and to follow a route designed to improve accessibility for academic institutions and healthcare facilities. Planners said integration of the feeder buses with metro schedules will aim to reduce waiting times and to encourage multimodal journeys. The arrangement is intended to ease travel burdens on students who commute daily and on patients who require reliable transport for appointments. Complementary measures may include clear signage, coordinated timetables and passenger information at interchange points.

Officials characterised the project as a major step towards enhancing seamless urban mobility in Nagpur and said it reflects growing emphasis on integrated transport planning. The initiative will be monitored for ridership patterns and may be adjusted to meet demand. Local authorities indicated further expansions of feeder connectivity will be considered based on the scheme's performance.
